Halbach Cylinder Array for Magnetic Refrigeration System

The sustainable development of human society put forward higher requirements on the environmental protection and energy efficiency of traditional vapor compression refrigeration technology, therefore, develop new refrigeration technology is treated as one of the effective means. Room-temperature magnetic refrigeration is a kind of solid refrigeration technology which based on Magnetocaloric Effect, and promises to be the most promising refrigeration technology due to low noise, low vibration, zero global warming potential and ozone depletion potential.

What is Magnetic Magnetocaloric Effect?

Magnetocaloric Effect is a type of thermal phenomena that ordering degree of magnetic moment changes under the changing magnetic field. The ordering degree increase when magnetic material magnetized, then magnetic entropy decreases and temperature rises, thus release heat. The ordering degree decrease during demagnetizing, then magnetic entropy rises and the temperature decrease, thus absorbs energy from outside.

Introduction of Room-temperature Magnetic Refrigeration System

Room-temperature magnetic refrigeration system consists of several subsystem, include magnetic circuit system which provided changing magnetic field, regenerator system and flow system for heat transfer. Thus magnetic refrigeration system can be divided into static-type, reciprocating-type and rotary-type according to the operation structure. The magnetic field of static-type is originated from the superconducting magnet and hence has been abandoned due to the cost price and structural complexity. Currently, magnetic field of the most magnetic refrigeration systems generated by the permanent magnets.

Magnetic circuit system and regenerator system are the core components of the room-temperature magnetic refrigeration system, and magnetic refrigeration system can be further classified into magnet motion type and regenerator motion type. Halbach cylinder array has been widely used in magnet rotary type magnetic refrigeration system.

Halbach Cylinder Array in Magnetic Refrigeration System

Halbach cylinder array can provide compact structure, static flow system and relatively high equivalent operating frequency to the magnet rotary type magnetic refrigeration system. SDM has been collected some experience on two relevant projects this year, and help customer to solve magnetic field and toque force items on the halbach cylinder array.

Gracias

  3. Pr Warburg is not the discoverer of the magnetocaloric effect (MCE). Yet he has found (1881) the impact of a magnetic field applied to a Fe wire maintained close to the alpha (ferro) to gamma (non magnetic) transition. He never delivered a fundamental explanation of his observation. This was made by early specialists of fundamental magnetism in real materials, Pr Weiss and Piccard (1918), who provide the physical explanation of MCE and then invented the name of Effet Magneto-Calorique (MCE in english).
