Axially Magnetized Magnet

Axially magnetized magnet refers to the magnetization direction of the magnet is along its geometric axis or axial direction. For circular and ring magnets, axially magnetization means that the magnets are magnetized through its thickness or height, then N pole and S pole are located on the two flat circular faces, respectively. Block magnets are specified in Length, Width, and Thickness. The thickness is normally the smallest dimension and defined as the magnetization direction. Axially magnetization is the most commonly magnetization pattern and axially magnetized magnet is available for ferrite magnet, AlNiCo magnet, Samarium Cobalt magnet, and Neodymium magnet.

Magnetizing fixture, also known as magnetizing coil or magnetizing yoke, is designed to serve the necessary magnetic field strength in the specific magnetization pattern. Magnetization process of axially magnetized magnet is processed by axially magnetizing fixture. The currents flow in the copper coil following a helicoidally path and thus generate the magnetic field directed on the axes of the coil. In addition, axially magnetizing fixture is also utilized to demagnetize magnetized objects. For axially magnetized magnets, the frequently-used comparative measurement of magnetic performance includes surface gauss, magnetic flux, and magnetic moment.
