Diametrically Magnetized Magnet

Diametrically magnetized magnet refers to the magnetization direction is through its diameter. The north pole and the south pole are located on the curved surface at opposite sides, respectively. Diametrically magnetization is the second common magnetization pattern and available for ferrite magnet, Samarium Cobalt magnet, and Neodymium magnet. Diametrically magnetized circular and ring magnets are commonly served in the sensor application. Arc magnet in the permanent magnet (PM) motors, generators, and magnetic coupling devices are also magnetized in diametrically direction.

Magnetizing fixture, also known as magnetizing coil and magnetizing yoke, is designed to provide the necessary magnetic field strength in the certain magnetization pattern. Magnetizing fixture for diametrically magnetized magnets is same as axially magnetized magnet’s and the difference lies in the magnetic material’s orientation. For diametrically magnetized magnets, the frequently-used comparative measurement of magnetic performance includes magnetic field strength waveform, magnetic flux, and magnetic moment.
