Ring magnet is circular in shape with a concentric hole inside it. Ring magnets can be divided to pure ring or countersunk ring based on the detailed shape of the inner hole. Ring magnet is typically measured by the outer diameter (O.D.), inner diameter (I.D.), and thickness (T). Ring shaped magnet can be magnetized with its N pole and S pole opposite flat end surfaces or diametrically magnetized so as to the N pole is on one curved side and the S pole is on opposite curved side which totally same as disc magnet. Besides the conventional axially magnetized or diametrically magnetized magnets, radially oriented magnet is also available for Neodymium magnet and ferrite magnet.
Material Classifications of Ring Magnets
Ring magnets are also available in different permanent magnetic material, include AlNiCo ring magnets, ferrite ring magnets, SmCo ring magnets, and Neodymium ring magnets. The last two options are also collectively known as rare earth ring magnets.
