AlNiCo Block Magnet

As the first generation of permanent magnet, AlNiCo magnet is primarily composed of Aluminum (Ni), Nickel (Ni), Cobalt (Co), and Iron (Fe). AlNiCo owns the best temperature coefficient before low temperature coefficient Samarium Cobalt magnets emerged, and its Max. Operating Temperature up to 500 degrees Celsius. In addition, AlNiCo does not require the protective coating due to its superior corrosion resistance. Either sintering or casting process can be applied to manufacture AlNiCo block magnet. AlNiCo block magnet is typically measured in accordance with the length (L), width (W), and thickness (T). Representative application of AlNiCo block magnet includes magnetic chuck and magnetic clamping system.

Permeance Coefficient of AlNiCo Block Magnet

Permeance coefficient Pc value of block magnet can be also estimated through the equivalent magnetic charge method, where W, T, L, and Le is the width, thickness, length, and effective length of the magnet, respectively. Le served in the formula is not always the physical length L of the magnet. Le of high coercivity magnet like Neodymium magnet, Samarium Cobalt magnet, and ferrite magnet can be assumed to be equal with L. AlNiCo has low coercivity and then exhibit larger μrec. For AlNiCo magnet, each grade has different μrec and thus owns separate effective length factor k. AlNiCo block magnet is ideal in limiting self-magnetization by being longer in the magnetization direction than in the pole face dimension.
