SmCo Ring Magnet

Samarium Cobalt magnet, also referenced as SmCo magnets, is mainly formed by metal Samarium (Sm), Cobalt (Co), and Iron (Fe). As the first commercially viable rare earth permanent magnet, Samarium Cobalt is widely known for superior resistance to corrosion, oxidation, temperature, and demagnetization. SmCo ring magnet is SmCo disc magnet with a straight hole through its center, then commonly dimensioned via outer diameter (O.D.) x inner diameter (I.D.) x thickness (T). In addition, countersunk ring is also available for SmCo magnets. Representative applications of SmCo ring magnet include watch movement rotor magnet and optical isolator magnet.

Notes:

  1. For SmCo ring magnets, either magnetic moment or magnetic flux are more convincing in comparison with surface gauss value.
  2. Magnetic moment calculators adapt to non-coating and non-chamfer magnet.
  3. Recoil permeability μrecof sintered Samarium Cobalt magnet is 1.05.
  4. The calculation results are merely for reference.
